COMMUNITY Champion- MONTHLY GIVING
Become a Community Champion and support on an ongoing basis. A monthly gift to United Way of Passaic County is an easy and flexible way to support our programs without making a lump sum donation. As a monthly donor, you’ll receive updates about the life-changing programs your contribution helps support, as well as invitations to annual events.
What is a Community Champion ?
Community Champians donate to United Way of Passaic County on their credit or debit card, on an ongoing basis or until you notify UWPC to cancel. As a Community Champion, you can decide what’s right for your budget. Every gift makes a difference!

United Way Workplace Campaign
Without a doubt, the workplace campaign is the most high-profile United Way fundraising activity across the world, representing a significant portion of the funds we gather to invest in changing community conditions. Workplace giving is an easy and effective way to help employees make a difference and show them that their workplace is actively supporting the local community’s most important issues. Employees of a company are given an opportunity to support United Way by donating a portion of their paycheck. In many cases, the donations from employees are pre-tax pay, and many companies match their employees’ donations, which makes their charitable contributions go further. Whether you're a small business, major corporation, or even a nonprofit, you can join the thousands of local businesses and organizations that run workplace campaigns each year.
PLANNED GIVING
Planned gifts allow donors to leave a legacy and make a perpetual investment in the financial security, youth success, and health access of families and individuals in the Mercer County area. Your foresight and generosity will have a lasting impact for generations to come.
Bequests (Will)
Name United Way of Passaic County, as a beneficiary on your Will. Having a Will is one of the most important steps you can take for yourself and your family. United Way has partnered with FreeWill to give you a free, easy way to write your legally valid Will. The service is 100% free and takes 20 minutes to complete a will. You can also use the tools to begin your plans before seeing a lawyer.
Qualified Charitable Distributions/Charitable IRA Rollover Gifts
Make a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) through an IRA: Any taxpayer that is 70.5 or older with a traditional IRA can give a tax-free gift called a QCD to the United Way of Passaic County. These gifts can be made whether or not you itemize, and reduce your future tax burden. Even in a year without a Required Minimum Distribution (RMD), this may be your smartest giving option to reduce your future RMDs. Start your QCD today.
Stock Donations
Make a gift of Appreciated Assets: Giving a gift of long-term appreciated assets, such as publicly-traded securities, real estate, and personal property, can be beneficial to you and the United Way of Passaic County. You may avoid a capital gains tax on the appreciation you have realized which results in a gift that is greater in value than its cost to you. Start your gift of stock.
MATCHING GIFTS
Many companies have demonstrated their support for United Way by matching their employees’ gifts. This helps your gift make a more significant impact in the community. Before you make a gift, ask whether your employer participates in a matching gift program, as certain restrictions may apply.
LEADERSHIP GIVING
Individuals or couples who contribute $1,000-$9,999 annually to United Way of Passaic County become Leaders’ Giving Circle members. Leadership donors are invited to annual events and recognized at the appropriate giving level in our Leadership Giving roster.
