This training, led by Community Education Specialist Christine Citera from Prevent Child Abuse NJ, will focus on information about child abuse and neglect. Participants will first learn important statistics about the issue, specifically data from New Jersey and how child abuse and neglect negatively influences children long-term. The training will also cover the influences and risk factors that may make a family more vulnerable to child abuse and neglect. Participants will also discuss the signs and symptoms of child abuse and neglect and how to report a case if they suspect a child is being abused. The training will focus on prevention strategies that can be implemented to protect children which includes an overview of the Protective Factors, an evidence-based approach to prevent child abuse. If time allows, the training will end with a brief overview of human trafficking and the commercial sexual exploitation of children.
