For 10 years, United Way of Passaic County has held an annual winter drive to benefit underprivileged children and families throughout Passaic County. With many struggling with tough economic times this holiday season, United Way and over thirty partners joined forces to host Winter Wishes 2010—a six week long campaign to collect toys and warm winter clothing for local children and adults who would otherwise go without this holiday season.
$28,000 Worth of Donations
After recieving hundreds of donations and over $5000 to purchase coats and other critical items, Winter Wishes 2010 resulted in a grand total of over $28,000 in donations that were distributed to over 700 individuals (children to seniors!)
"We are so impressed with the communities generosity and our partners ability to identify familes in the greatest need. Our coordinated efforts provided a coat, hat, scarf, gloves and a toy to every child at a school in Passaic," said Yvonne Zuidema, president of United Way of Passaic County. "It's hard to describe how much good everyone's donation does for our children and families in need. "
Winter Wishes 2010 offered donors the opportunity to sponsor a classroom, help a child or a family, hold a Whole & Healthy Food Drive or hold a toy drive.
Special thanks to United Way’s generous 2010 Winter Wishes Partners including BP, Barnes & Noble, Lakeland Bank, Toys-r-Us, FSR, West Milford Pharmacy, Interserver, Passaic County Workforce Development, Diamond Cutter Executive Services, Home Care Options, NJ Media Group Foundation, Roche and State Farm.
